Things to do in the Alpes Mancelles areaLes Alpes Mancelles (the Alps of Le Mans), FranceE'tang De Campus is located next to the Alpes Mancelles. It's renowned as one of the finest areas of natural beauty in the west of France with the great variation in altitude and the Alpine plants on the hillsides, it is an area of outstanding splendour known for walking and cycling. This stunning area has deep gorges, mountain streams, dramatic cliffs and hillside forests. Located north of Le Mans, south of Alençon, and just east of the Mayenne, Les Alpes Mancelles occupies approximately 400 square kilometres. At 417 metres, Mont Des Avaloirs, is the highest 'peak' in the region and the highest point in Western France. The highest hills are called "Le Haut Fourché (217 meters above see level) and "Narbonne" (203 meters). They form natural panoramic view points from where one can see the Sarthe River and the village of Saint-Leonard-Des-Bois below. The Alpes Mancelles are a few minutes to the west of Ancinnes and south of Alençon; they form a picturesque, undulating region which some say resembles an alpine scene.
